Event Description:
We will meet this Sunday afternoon at 3 PM at Wendy Cartwright's house to continue making election plans for our area. We participated in an energizing workshop a couple of weeks ago and we don't want to lose our momentum. Because this meeting will substitute for the Northwest Hillsborough Democratic Club meeting, I've invited a guest speaker to join us. Her name is Meghan Cohorst and she works with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a Florida farmworker organization that is trying to improve the sweatshop and near-slavery conditions of farmworkers in the state. The CIW is organizing a FARMWORKER FREEDOM MARCH and rally for the weekend of April 16-18. Meghan will give us information about the protests being waged against Publix Supermarket for their tomato-buying policies. Contact Susan Smith for information at stsmith222@aol.com.
